He never learns. In the fourth season of his award-winning HBO comedy series, the quasi-fictional character of Larry David continues to say--and do--whatever he wants whenever he wants. In the first episode alone ("Mel's Offer"), in which Mel Brooks offers him the role of Max Bialystock in The Producers, David offends a doctor, a lesbian couple, a wheelchair user, and Ben Stiller (by not shaking his hand after he sneezes). Then, in the second ("Ben's Birthday Party"), he offends a blind man--by telling him his girlfriend's not as hot as she claims--and pokes Stiller in the eye with a skewer while attempting to show agent Jeff Greene (Jeff Garlin) his new golf move.

Larry continues to offend Stiller until he drops out of The Producers and, in the fifth episode ("The 5 Wood"), David Schwimmer (Friends) steps in. The following episode ("The Car Pool Lane"), in which David attends a Dodgers game--with a prostitute, so he can use the carpool lane--made history when it set an innocent man free. Unused footage from the show, entered into evidence by the defense attorney, confirmed his client's alibi that he couldn't have committed a murder because he was at the game (alas, the Braves still trounced the Dodgers). Other guests include Ted Danson ("The Weatherman"), Russell Means ("Wandering Bear"), and Gina Gershon ("The Survivor") as a Hasidic hottie. In addition, the hour-long season finale ("Opening Night") boasts a bevy of stars, including David’s old colleague Jerry Seinfeld, Nathan Lane (Broadway's original Bialystock), and fellow Tony Award winner Anne Bancroft (The Miracle Worker). As they've done since the early days, Cheryl Hines (Cheryl David), Susie Essman (Susie Greene), and Richard Lewis and Wanda Sykes (as themselves) do what they can to keep one-man demolition derby David in check. --Kathleen C. King of the Hill - The Complete Fourth Season

King of the Hill - The Complete Fourth Season Review

King of the Hill - The Complete Fourth Season Overview

KING OF THE HILL SEASON 4 - DVD Movie

King of the Hill - The Complete Fourth Season Specifications

Television, nay America, needs more men like Hank Hill, a stalwart, decent "fella" who, he proudly proclaims in the episode, "Movin' On Up," "keeps his yard free of debris and pays his bills on time." But a world that just ain't right keeps testing his moral fiber. In the two-parter "Hanky Panky"/"High Anxiety," Hank finds himself embroiled in a scandalous case of sex, drugs, and murder. In "Little Horrors of Shop," Hank is outraged to learn that his son Bobby's school has turned shop class into a study hall ("All parents care about these days is zero tolerance, drug policies, and literacy," the dejected principal tells him). In "Transnational Amusements Presents: Peggy's Magic Sex Feet," his unwitting wife Peggy's 16 ½-inch feet become the featured attraction on an Internet fetish sight. Biology, too, continues to vex the buttoned-up Hank, as witness one of the season's best episodes, "Aisle 8-A," in which Connie, the daughter of Hank's contemptuous Laotian neighbor, Kahn, is left in the Hills' care, and Hank must deal solo with her first period. Hank has somewhat come to terms with his misfit, but well-adjusted son's desire to be a comedian. He can get behind Bobby's comedy troupe, "The Propaniacs," but he is mortified when he learns that Bobby is secretly performing as a rodeo clown in "Rodeo Days." Hank does, however, breathe a sigh of relief that Bobby likes girls after Bobby and Connie are caught in a compromising situation by Connie's strict and over-protective parents in "Naked Ambition."

In its fourth season, King of the Hill is really cooking with propane, I'll tell you what, as Peggy rebounds from her skydiving accident to win her third Substitute Teacher of the Year Award, pathetic Bill Dautereive reclaims his high school football record, and clueless Dale's wife Nancy ends her decades-long affair with John Redcorn. The guest voices this season are particularly impressive: Meryl Streep , Reese Witherspoon, Drew Carey, Don Meredith, Kathleen Turner, Heather Locklear, and, in "Peggy's Fan Fair," a stellar roster of country artists, including Vince Gil, Clint Black, Randy Travis, and, um, Tony Danza. --Donald Liebenson

Star Trek Voyager - The Complete Fourth Season

Star Trek Voyager - The Complete Fourth Season Review

I don't know what in the heck my review title is supposed to mean? I am just feeling in a silly mood today and it's the first thing to pop into my head. Anyway, I purchased this DVD set about two months ago when it was on sale at a price that I just could not refuse, and I am only now getting around to watching it. So far it's been great. Lots of Borg action in these episodes what with the addition of an exciting new cast member, Jeri Ryan who plays Seven of Nine. Seven of Nine is a lady who was once part of the Borg collective and is now mostly human with the help of Captain Janeway, the Doctor, and the rest of the Voyager crew, and she is trying to fit in with her new life on the Voyager starship. Also of special note is that cast regular Kes, played by Jennifer Lien, is no longer with the show. She makes a couple of appearances but that's about it. She will be missed. But life on Voyager goes on and Seven of Nine really makes that life just a little bit more interesting. I can't wait to see where it all leads to.

There's really not much more that I can add to this review because I haven't watched all of the episodes just yet. But the ones that I have viewed so far have all been excellent, as all the Voyager seasons have been up to this point.

The DVD set arrived in great shape and very quickly to boot so Amazon did me another solid on this deal which I commend and recommend them highly for if you just so happen to be thinking about purchasing this season. Take care and keep on Trekkin'!

Star Trek Voyager - The Complete Fourth Season Overview

A Starfleet ship is 75 years away from the Federation, and must cooperate with rebels to find their way home.

Star Trek Voyager - The Complete Fourth Season Specifications

For many fans, Voyager hit its peak in the fourth season, due in no small part to a certain former Borg drone named Seven of Nine, Tertiary Adjunct of Unimatrix 0-1, but you can call her Seven of Nine (Jeri Ryan). Following the season 3 cliffhanger "Scorpion," the crew enters an unlikely alliance with the Borg against Species 8472, led by Seven of Nine, who ends up restoring (mostly) her human roots and trying to assimilate herself among Voyager's crew all the time feeling the pull of the Collective and resisting the mother-hen attempts of Captain Janeway (Kate Mulgrew). While Seven's curvaceous figure and skin-tight uniform certainly won over many fans, she was helped by a commanding presence, good writing ("So you wish to copulate?" was a classic line), and a stage that was cleared for her by the coinciding departure of one of the most prominent characters of the series.

Other significant developments of the season included the actors' getting to stretch themselves out "Mirror, Mirror"-like as evil counterparts in "Living Witness" (also Tim Russ's directing debut), the time- and mind-bending two-parter "Year of Hell," a battle with 1940s Nazis in the two-part "The Killing Game," the Doctor's comedic sparring with a new rival in "Message in a Bottle," the Alien-like "Prey," and Tom Paris (Robert Duncan MacNeill) taking a personal step and switching bodies with an alien in "Vis a Vis."

The DVD set offers the usual 20-minute season overview, crew profiles of Seven of Nine (natch) and Harry Kim (both of whom show warm appreciation for the Trek crowd), features on Species 8472 and the art of matte painting, and episode spotlights. --David Horiuchi

Scrubs - The Complete Fourth Season

Scrubs - The Complete Fourth Season Review

This Dvd is one of the best dvds i've bought in a while. I have to admit that though i use to see the commercials for the show i was never intrigued enough to watch it but one day i just happen to catch it on rerun and now im totally hook. That was about three months ago and i since then have bought all eight seasons and also manage to get all my friends and family as hooked to it as i am so my advise to you is BUY IT AND BUY IT NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Scrubs - The Complete Fourth Season Overview

J.D. (Zach Braff), Elliot (Sarah Chalke), Turk (Donald Faison), Dr. Cox (John C. McGinley), and the laugh-packed cast are back on DVD in the Emmy(R) winning comedy SCRUBS: THE COMPLETE FOURTH SEASON. See the funniest guest stars yet -- including Heather Graham, Colin Farrell, and Chuck Woolery -- in the biggest season yet, when J.D. moves out on his own and Elliot gains more confidence than ever and leaves Sacred Heart! The DVD box set is bursting with exclusive bonus features and includes the original hit music from the season.

Scrubs - The Complete Fourth Season Specifications

More guest stars move through the revolving door of Sacred Heart Hospital in Scrubs' fourth season, with results as uneven as the show itself. With last season's climactic end to J.D. (Zach Braff) and Elliot (Sarah Chalke)'s relationship resolved within two episodes, Heather Graham (Boogie Nights) comes on board as a cheerful psychiatrist/love interest, and Julianna Margulies (ER) as a cutthroat malpractice attorney/love interest. But the real love story of Scrubs has always been between J.D. and Turk (Donald Faison), a point that is poked fun at in the season opener, as the two joyously reunite after Turk's honeymoon with nurse Carla (Judy Reyes). Turk and Carla struggle to navigate newlywed life, made all the more complicated by J.D.'s drunken kiss with Carla. Meanwhile, at the hospital, it's Elliot who proves the more proficient doctor when she shares co-chief resident with J.D., and a few (though not enough) patient stories, including Saturday Night Live alum Molly Shannon as a chatterbox ambulance driver with a secret, Matthew Perry (Friends) as an air traffic controller estranged from his dad (played by John Perry, his real father), and in the most bizarre bit of stunt casting, Colin Farrell (Miami Vice) as an unintelligible Irishman (so, basically himself) and American Idol runner-up Clay Aiken as a singing cafeteria worker(!).

Some of Scrubs' special features this time around are ho-hum, including short vignettes on "The Mysterious Janitor" and more on J.D. and Dr. Cox. The only pleasant surprise is an audio commentary from Braff (who was absent from season three's commentaries and was ribbed in season two's disc for being too important shooting films to contribute), speaking on "My Last Chance," which he directed. Season Four is a letdown compared to the previous seasons' smooth navigation between belly laughs and heartache; here's hoping Scrubs' trademark hysterics get resuscitated for season five. --Ellen A.
